How to Find Your Device's MAC Address

Your device's MAC address (all uppercase “MAC”: not to be confused with Apple's “Mac” branding,) is a device identifier related to networking. A MAC address is required for registering devices on the “game-stream” ONU Wi-Fi network, but locating this identifier can vary widely by device and manufacturer.


Smart Devices

Google Home

  1. Ensure you have the Google Home application installed on your phone or mobile device.

  2. Open the application and set up your Google Home.

  3. To obtain the MAC address, click the three lines on the top left inside the application.

  4. Select Devices, and then select your Google Home.

  5. Click on Settings, scroll down to information, and your MAC address should be revealed.

Google Home Mini

  1. Open up the Google Home App

  2. Tap on the plus icon that says “Add

  3. Beneath “Add to home,” tap on “Set up device

  4. Beneath “New Devices” tap on “Set up new devices in your home

  5. Tap and make sure “Home” or your desired name is checked.

  6. Tap “Next

  7. (Make sure the Mini is on) It will proceed to look for the Google Home Mini and eventually connect saying “Google Home Mini found”

  8. It will ask “Would you like to set up this device?” tap on “Yes

  9. It will then connect to the mini and say “Connecting to Google Home Mini…”

  10. The Google Mini will make a jingle sound asking “Did you hear the sound”

  11. Tap on “Yes

  12. It will say “Help improve Google Home Mini,” tap on “No Thanks” or “ Yes, I’m in

  13. It will ask “Where is this device”, set it to the desired location and then tap “Next

  14. It will say “Connect to Wi-Fi” here you will tap on the top right corner on the 3 vertical dots.

  15. A drop down menu will show and read “Submit feedback report” and “Show MAC address.” Tap on “Show MAC address

  16. A window will pop on the center of your screen with the Google Home Mini’s MAC address.


Entertainment Devices

Chromecast

First ensure that you have the Google Cast application, which can be found on the App Store and Google Play Store. Make sure your Chromecast is plugged into an available HDMI port and powered via its included USB cable.

  1. Open your devices Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Connect to the broadcasted Chromecast SSID (e.g. Chromecast0256).

  3. Once connected, navigate to and open the Google Cast application.

  4. Follow the prompts until you see a screen that displays the MAC Address.

Amazon Echo

  1. Download Amazon Alexa app to a phone or computer

  2. Sign in with Amazon Account

  3. Connect to the wireless network transmitted by the Echo device.

  4. The wireless MAC address for Echo can be found at the bottom of the Echo Setup
    screen in the Alexa app.

Fire Stick

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.

  2. Select Settings. You should see the Wi-Fi MAC Address located in the “Device Info” section.

Apple TV

This device supports both a wired and wireless connection. Be sure you know which type of connection you will be using for the corresponding MAC address.

  1. Select Settings.

  2. Select About.

  3. The MAC address will be displayed as “Ethernet ID” or “Wireless ID” depending on your connection type.

Roku

This device supports both a wired and wireless connection. Be sure you know what type of connection you will be using for the corresponding MAC address.

  1. From the Home screen, press Up on your remote and the Menu Bar should appear.

  2. Select “Settings.”

  3. Select “Player Info.”

  4. The MAC address will be displayed.

Smart TV

May support both a wired and wireless connection. Be sure you know what type of connection you will be using for the corresponding MAC address.

  1. Select “Network Settings.”

  2. Select “Network Status.”

  3. The MAC address will be displayed.


Gaming Devices

Nintendo DS

To obtain the MAC Address from a Nintendo DS, you must first insert a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection compatible game and access the WFC Setup Utility. Note that the exact steps to access the setup utility varies by game. However, the setup utility is a standard menu, included with all WFC-compatible games.

  • After accessing the utility, tap "Options," then "System Information."

  • The MAC Address and Nintendo WFC ID will be listed on the screen. Unless the game player has successfully connected with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the WFC ID will be blank.

Nintendo Wii or Wii U

  1. Start your Wii (or Wii U), without a disc..

  2. Click the Wii button at the bottom of the start screen.

  3. Click “Wii Settings.”

  4. Go to the next set of settings, by selecting the arrow on the right.

  5. Click “Internet.”

  6. Select “Console information.”

  7. The MAC Address will display on the next page.

Nintendo Switch

  1. Select “System Settings” from the HOME Menu.

  2. Scroll down through the menu and select “Internet.”

  3. The Nintendo Switch console's MAC address will be listed under “System MAC Address.”

PlayStation 2

To find the MAC address of your Sony PlayStation 2 you will need the Network Adaptor connected to the PS2 and you will need the disc that came with the Network Adaptor. Then follow these steps:

  1. Power up the PlayStation 2 and load the Network Adaptor Startup Disc.

  2. Once it has loaded, select "ISP Setup" and press “X” on your controller.

  3. The ISP Setup will begin to load, and you will be presented with a license agreement. Select “Agree” and press “X” to continue.

  4. For connection type, choose "Local Area Network (LAN)" and press “X” to continue.

  5. Select "Automatic Configuration" and press “X” to continue.

  6. At the connection test screen, select "Advanced" and press “X” to continue.

  7. At the "Advanced Broadband Settings" screen, make sure "Automatic" is selected. While you are at this screen, make note of the MAC address at the bottom. Some of the PS2 games also have the ability to list your MAC address, but the above steps are the preferred way of finding the MAC address.

PlayStation 3 or 4

  1. Start up your PlayStation 3 without a disk in the drive.

  2. Find the System Settings icon and press “X.”

  3. Click “System Information” and press “X.”

  4. Your MAC Address will display.

Playstation 5

  1. Start up your PlayStation 5 without a disk in the drive.

  2. On the home screen, click on the settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select "System".

  4. Under “System Software”, select “Console Information.”

  5. You will see the MAC addresses for LAN (Ethernet) and Wi-Fi.

PSP (PlayStation Portable)

  1. Navigate to "System Settings."

  2. Then navigate to "System Information"

  3. the MAC address is listed in this menu.

XBOX

  1. Turn on your XBOX console with no game disc in the disc tray.

  2. From the XBOX Dashboard, choose XBOX Live. These steps assume you cannot connect to XBOX Live until you finish configuring your XBOX console to use your PC's MAC address. Therefore, you should receive the following message: "Could not connect to XBOX Live. Do you want to troubleshoot your network connection?".

  3. From the “Connect Status” screen, select “Settings.”

  4. The MAC address of your XBOX console is in the bottom-right corner of the “Network Settings” screens.

    • Do not change your XBOX console MAC address.

XBOX 360

  1. Go to the System area of the XBOX Dashboard and select “Network Settings.” Select “Edit Settings.”

  2. From “Additional Settings,” select “Advanced Settings.”

  3. Select “Edit Settings.”

  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called “Wired MAC Address.”

XBOX One

  1. Go to My XBOX in the XBOX Dashboard and select “Settings.”

  2. In the Settings pane, select “Network.”

  3. From the “Network Settings” tab, select “Advanced Settings.”

  4. The “Wired MAC” is at the bottom of this screen .

XBOX X/S

  1.  On the XBOX controller, press the “XBOX” button.

  2.  From the “Profile & System” menu, select “Settings.”

  3. From the “General” section, select “Network Settings.”

  4. Select “Advanced Settings.”

  5. On the “IP Settings” menu, the wireless MAC address will be listed by “Wireless MAC.”
