You can make outbound calls from off campus using the Mitel Connect application, the ONU VPN, and your cell phone. When outbound calls are made through Mitel Connect while external assignment is on, the person you are calling sees your desk extension caller ID instead of your cellphone number.
Making Outbound Calls with External Assignment
Requirements: Mitel Connect Application installed on your workstation, Connection to ONU VPN, External Assignment for your extension already set up
Instructions on how to install the Mitel Connect Client
- If you are off campus, you will need to connect to the ONU VPN first on your computer.
- Open Mitel Connect
- Type the number you want to call into the "Name or Number" field (the number can be an internal extension or an outside number) .
- Press enter
- You will receive a call from the Mitel system on your cell phone.
- Answer the call
When you answer this call, it will then proceed to call the number you entered into the Mitel Connect Application.
The person being called will see your desk number and not your cell phone number – even though you are using your cellphone for the call.
